Millers Junction, Altona North – Stage 3, Victoria
On Tuesday 23 August 2016, Hobsons Bay City Council voted unanimously in favour of the next stage (Stage 3) of the Millers Junction precinct in Altona North. The proposal will now be put to the Victorian State Government for review and exhibition.
The development proposal relates to 7.8 hectares of land on the northern side of Cabot Drive in Altona North; between Millers Road and Chambers Road. The land comprises part of the former Cabots Site and the former Bunnings warehouse which was vacated by Bunnings in November 2014 for the new Bunnings Warehouse in Stage 1 of Millers Junction.
The Stage 3 plans provide for a new mixed commercial development of 13,286 square metres to include a new full line Woolworths supermarket, approximately seven large format retail stores and five shops. The plans also include for 5 smaller parcels of land around the road frontages for future development.
The development proposal would create an attractive and modern mixed commercial centre for the community with a focus on pedestrian access, new shared bike and pedestrian pathways along Chambers Road and Cabots Drive, and extensive landscaping zones over 10% of the site.
Woolworths commitment to Stage 3 follows the success of Stage 1 which includes Bunnings, Officeworks, Aldi and J B Hi Fi.
